Blogging With a Purpose!

The complete name of this blog is,
"...and when thou art athirst, go unto the vessels,
and drink of that which the young men have drawn." - Ruth 2:9b

The purpose of this blog is 3-fold
       1. To glorify the Lord Jesus Christ.
       2. To encourage, edify, and strengthen the faith of other believers.
       3. To provide water for those weary souls which are athirst in this wicked world of sin.

To achieve this purpose I will be drawing from the stores, or vessels, of those which have come before; who lived their lives wholly devoted to Christ and His Gospel.

I believe that this present day of apostasy has no greater evil in it than of times past, it may appear to have more, but I believe that it appears so because of the constant bombardment of sin through such forms as television, movies, music, and other forms of media. The men who lived two-hundred years ago had the same wickedness in their hearts that men today have.

These men, from whose works I will be drawing from, are simply that - men. These men though, were completely surrendered to the will of God, and were used of God in mighty ways. These were Spirit-filled men; these were men who believed God's word, trusted God, took God at His word, and through the power of God shook the world in which they lived; these were men that walked with God; these were men of prayer; these were men who preached with the authority of God's word and didn't appologize for it; men who took the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost, sin-sick, and perishing world; men who lived (and died) for Christ; men who fixed their eyes on eternity, and not vanity; men who walked "by faith, not by sight".
These were not some strange breed of super humans, some special breed of Samson's. They were simple men not very different than you or I. Think it not strange that I say this, for the same God which they served is the same God which we serve (if you are born again). The only difference is faith.

"Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you." - Matthew 9:29

May God "Increase our faith." - Luke 17:5

For my first entry I have chosen a sermon which I have just recently come across by Charles Spurgeon entitled, "How to read the Bible".
It has four parts, each lasting a little over 10 minutes in length.

May God be glorified, and bless thee through it.
